Death of the catalogue, what companies still use them?

With the huge rise in popularity of online banking, many companies see it logical to scrap the idea of the catalogue, the reason this is become a popular decision is because so many people have computers and access to their website that they no longer need to produce catalogues, and this will in fact save the company thousands of pounds. Their website will act as a catalogue with a search feature to make looking for a product faster and easier, and once you have found the product you want you are able to buy it there and have it delivered. It's an easier and more efficient way to shop, and you don't even have to leave your house, the appeal for this kind of shopping is massive, and therefore companies who still use catalogues won't benefit from their decision.
An example of a company that is scrapping the catalogue would be Argos, they are aiming to use a more website based selling technique, with this technique in place, they will be able to make huge saving as they no longer need to buy all the paper and ink used to make the catalogues.

Along with the catalogue, many other companies are scrapping using paper all together. The Internet has become such a simple way to find information, write complaints, and applying for jobs, it saves time, money, and effort, and so it's clear why so many companies are switching over. In this day and age, it's the logical think to do.

Although other companies such as Next, Littlewoods and SimplyBe still use the catalogue, we shouldn't expect to see them around much longer, they will soon realise the advantage to switching to online use, and this way they can save a lot of money too. Customers will be more incline to shop from a store that is up to date with a functioning online store, it's a huge demand in the current market.
